Painting has always been an important part of my life. Over time, my work has evolved and includes both representational watercolours and large abstract acrylics. I continue to enjoy the immediacy of water media as well as the playfulness of collage and mixed media experimentation.
Nature and travel continue to evoke and provide inspiration. In many ways, painting is a visual journal of thoughts and responses to a scene, to an idea, to an event. The challenge is how to capture the atmosphere, the particular light or sound of that day. I am intrigued by the internal processes and thoughts that shape our perceptions of the world around us. In my abstract work, I explore ways of giving shape to the essence of a visual idea.
